The New York State Comptroller is the State’s is responsible for overseeing local governments that use taxpayer money and make sure those local governments use that money effectively and efficiently to promote the common good. In addition The Comptroller’s Office is also responsible for the New York State Common Retirement Fund, maintaining the State's accounting system & payroll, reporting on State finances, managing and issuing NY State's debt, serving as custodian of unclaimed funds and restoring lost account.
